Places of Intersection and Commonality

I have been seeing this meme running around Social Media recently that I find interesting. It says "The problem isn't lack of money, food, water, or land. The problem is that you've given control of these things to a group of greedy psychopaths who care more about maintaining their own power than helping mankind." and it is attributed to "Bill Hicks, Stand Up Comedian, Social Critic (1961 - 1994)".

Bill Hicks was a very funny individual. And he definitely was on the Left side of the Political Spectrum. He was also infamous as an Atheist who had many unkind things to say about Religion.

And the most fascinating thing that I am finding is that people whom I know to e to the Extreme Right side of the Political Spectrum and also some very Religious People, mostly both, are also claiming this and posting it for sharing.

And here is where we have the Intersectionality and Commonality.

We can all agree with the thought that we have turned the most important parts of our society, all our Financial and Natural Resources, over to Greedy people who only want what is best for them.

However, when it comes to how we got here and who is Responsible for it we have some wildly divergent ways of seeing it. One based, mostly, in Reality and another based, mostly, in Propaganda pushed by the Wealthy and Powerful through their various different mouthpieces and organs of disinformation.

Yet, we still have places where we can agree.

We all agree that our economy no longer serves us, that it is run by people that do not care about us.

We all agree that money plays way too big of a role in our politics.

We agree that the old bargain of working for a good retirement no longer is in effect.

We all agree that there must be changes to how we do things to effect a better life for ourselves and our descendants.

Now the question is, how can we take those places where we do actually agree and turn that into effective actions that spread the power and wealth back out to where we all have a fair share again?

Well, I have some ideas. Of course I do. I have ideas about everything. And for this one, and try not to have a heart attack people, I am not here to give you my ideas. I am here to ask you about your ideas.

I believe that we all want the same thing. A life worth living where we can do good and meaningful things, while supporting a family and contributing to society, where we leave the world a better place for our descendants.

And I believe that we all have some banging ideas of how to do this.

My challenge for all of you is to get together with others, whether you agree with them or not, and find common ground that you can then come up with an action plan and begin to affect change in our society. Change that is good for all and not just the people that you agree with.

Think that you can do that? I do. I believe that we can all do that.

It will just take some Humility and Resolve.

How 'bout it?
