Finding Ourselves
There is this wonderful song by an artist called Aloe Blacc. And in it is this line "All this time I was finding myself, and I didn't know I was lost". And I got to thinking about that and well, here ya go.
So many of us humans spend time Being Lost and a lot of that time we are totally unaware of this. We are just stumbling thru life trying to be the person that our family, friends, the society around us expect us to be. We are totally disconnected with the inner part of ourselves that knows that there is more. That we can, and should, be more. Or something/someone else.
And somewhere along the way we can sometimes sense it. That something just ain't quite right. And most of us have no idea what to do with that information. And life goes on.
And, for most of us, life is fine. Nothing really bad is going to happen because we are not living up to who we should be. Nothing will make our life terrible just because we are, on a very deep level, being a fraud to ourselves and the world around us. We just never quite reach any fulfillment in life and are less that we could, and probably should, be.
We have been a fraud for so long that it just feels like that is who we are.
And sometimes a catastrophic thing will happen that shakes things loose enough that we take a long look at who we are and recognize that this just does not work for us. That it never really did.
And so we come to the conclusion that, while the part of us that we understood was us had no idea that we were lost, there was another part of us, the Deep Unconcious, the Higher Self, the Spiritual Part of us, whatever you want to call it, had always understood that this was not our true self. That we had the capability to be something or someone else, more complete.
And thus we get to the line that started this off, "All this time I was finding myself, and I didn't know I was lost". And I think that we need to talk about what is said just before this. It goes, "So wake me up when it's all over. When I'm wiser and I'm older."
And I think that is pretty much all of us. We want to just go thru life without waking up until we arrive at Wiser and Older. And, in my experience, that is just not possible. We cannot get the prize without the price. And the price is being awake. Being aware. Struggling to break free of who we thought we should be and strive towards who we can be, want to be, and should be. One must pay the price, the sweat equity, to get the prize, the Being of the person we need to be to feel like a Whole Human Being.
And finally this. There is a part in there where he says, "Life's a game made for everyone. And Love is the prize". And, for me, I must wake up and Become, become the person who can have Love in my life. For without Love there is nothing.
So what game are you playing? Are you playing for Love? Are you giving Love to others? Are you being a Loving person in every aspect of your being? In any aspect of your being?
Because "Life's a game made for everyone. And Love is the prize".
For, we must Love each other or die.
And, Love. It is the only Rational act.
Peace and Love to all.
Namaste 🙏
